Join volunteers, staff, and friends from Christian Legal Aid programs throughout the Midwest for a weekend of fellowship, rest, and rejuvenation. Learn and share with fellow attorneys and non-attorneys about learning to better bless our neighbors in need.

Located at Hueston Woods Lodge & Conference Center north of Cincinnati OH. Anyone who is involved in, or would like to learn about, Christian Legal Aid is welcome!

Registration includes 2 nights lodging in either a private or shared room, plus 4 meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast Sunday morning). 

     Double Occupancy: $190 per person
     Law Students (double occupancy): $150 per person
     Single Occupancy: $332
     Spouse (non-participant): $213

    Tentative Schedule: Check-in and registration will be from 4-6pm on Friday. Opening session is at 7pm. There will be light refreshments. Saturday will include workshops and discussion along with a few hours of free time between lunch and dinner. We will end with workshops and a fellowship time. Sunday morning will include discussion and closing after breakfast. We will conclude by noon. *formal schedule to follow*

    • Christian legal aid volunteers as the Good Samaritan?
    • Making the most of client consultations
    • Ministering to clients with hospitality and spiritual counsel
    • Elder law basics for legal aid attorneys

    Keynote Speaker: Chris Purnell

    Chris received a B.S. from Indiana State University, a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law, and a M.Div from Fuller Theological Seminary. Chris served at the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic in Indianapolis from 2008 to 2019, starting as a staff attorney then as Executive Director.  He is currently tax counsel at CapinCrouse, a national CPA and consulting services firm serving not-for-profit organizations and churches. He also teaches Legal Studies as an Adjunct Professor at Taylor University. Chris and his wife, Christy, live in Indianapolis with their two vivacious children.

    Chris will deliver the Sunday morning talk at the Christian Legal Aid Midwest Retreat.
